Severe Weather Threat Diminishes for Monday Afternoon
The severe weather threat has greatly diminished this morning over eastern North Carolina, but there are still several Marine Hazards and a Wind Advisory out for the Outer Banks this afternoon.
The main threats will be strong sustained winds with damaging wind gusts, as well as heavy downpours and the potential for localized flooding in poor drainage areas. Tornadoes remain possible, and the NWS advises all residents to ensure that they have multiple ways to receive warnings. This includes the NWS website at www.weather.gov/mhx, broadcast media, NOAA Weather Radio, and / or access to a cell phone and social media.
