U.S. 64 lane closures near Manteo to be extended next week

The single-lane closures currently on U.S. 64 between Nags Head and Manteo will be extended approximately three-quarters of a mile on Feb. 4. The work was previously scheduled for earlier this month but delayed due to cold temperatures, snow and ice.
The lane closures are necessary to allow an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor to perform maintenance on culvert pipes under the highway.
The work is expected to take two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
During that time, the right lanes and shoulders in both directions will be closed to allow room for the equipment and materials needed to perform the culvert work.
The speed limit in the work zone will remain 45 mph.
