The Dare County Board of Elections is reminding voters that this Friday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m., is the deadline to register and/or change your party affiliation for those who choose to cast their ballot on Election Day (November 3).
But those who have not registered by Oct. 9 can register at one-stop sites, or early voting sites, during the early voting period. Upon completion of registration, the newly registered voter can immediately vote at that same one-stop site. This process is known as same-day registration.
Early voting sites will be open from Oct 15 through Oct. 30 from 8:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, Oct. 17 and 24 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The last day of early voting is Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Someone may register to vote in Dare County if he or she is:
- A citizen of the United States; and
- 18 years of age or older by the election; and
- A legal resident of Dare County for 30 days by the date of the next election
