Organizers of the first-annual 2022 Run the Rodanthe Bridge 5 mile and 5K recently announced that the event now has a title sponsor, Midgett Realty.
The race will take place on the nearly-completed Jug Handle Bridge, and though the official date of the event has not been set due to ongoing construction, most of the 300 spots for participants have been filled.
“Currently, we have over 260 registered runners/walkers,” stated the RWSCA Board of Directors & Committees in an emailed update. “Don’t get locked out – register now before the race [has] reached capacity.”
Interested runners and walkers can sign up for the race at https://tinyurl.com/rodantherun. The race can include a total of 5 miles – all the way out and back above the Pamlico Sound – or can be enjoyed as a 5K to the middle of the bridge and back.
A post-race party will also be held at the RWS Community Building lot, with music, beer, hot sandwiches, coleslaw, chips, beans, and more. All finishers will receive a Bridge Medal, and registered runners will also receive a souvenir long-sleeved T-shirt.
The date of the race will be announced as soon as a bridge opening date has been set.
