The Coastal Humane Society is holding its first fall 2023 Pet Vaccination Clinic this coming Sunday, September 17th, from 11-2 in front of Good Dog Retreat in Manteo. The Clinic Veterinarian is Dr. Mary Burkart from Roanoke Island Animal Hospital.
No appointments are needed. Payment must be by cash or check. Our Clinics are popular so families should be prepared to wait. It is first come, first served.
The vaccination package for dogs includes rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines for a total of $31. The package for cats includes rabies and FVRCP vaccines for $18. Vaccines are priced individually so families can choose whether they want the package for their pets or just some vaccines.
The Coastal Humane Society has a partnership with the Outer Banks Community Foundation that provides for dogs to receive a free heartworm test during this Clinic. Heartworm testing and prevention are important on the Outer Banks. Heartworm disease can kill, and treatment is expensive. Annual testing and monthly prevention are the best way to protect our canine family members.
Families must bring their dogs to the Clinic on leashes and their cats in carriers.
The Coastal Humane Society began in 1997 as an all-volunteer non-profit organization helping everyone in the Outer Banks community care for their pets. Twenty-six years later – thanks to the generosity of our community – the organization has helped over 10,000 Outer Banks pets maintain their health and stay together with their people. Programs include low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, medical assistance, heartworm testing, pet food and supplies in the wake of hurricanes and other community-wide emergencies.
