Lifeguards return to five Cape Hatteras National Seashore beaches on Memorial Day Weekend
Lifeguards are returning for the summer season to Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s five lifeguarded beaches starting on Saturday, May 25.
From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, lifeguards are on duty daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:
- Coquina Beach Day Use Area (Bodie Island)
Located across from the Bodie Island Lighthouse site - Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Beach (Hatteras Island)
Adjacent to the Old Cape Hatteras Lighthouse site - Frisco Beach Day Use Area (Hatteras Island)
Located just south of Frisco Village - Ocracoke Beach Day Use Area (Ocracoke Island)
1 ½ miles south of the Seashore campground or ½ mile north of Ocracoke Village - Rodanthe Beach Access (Hatteras Island)

The lifeguards can answer questions on swimming safety and weather conditions, and visitors can also access information on swimming conditions via the daily rip current forecast at www.weather.gov/beach/mhx.
