Dare County Announces Weekend Closures and Cancellations Due to Inclement Weather

The Dare County Public Works Department has announced that the Manns Harbor Transfer Station and C&D Landfill as well as the Buxton Transfer Station will be closed on Saturday, January 29, 2022, due to the inclement weather that is forecast to occur.

Dare County Library Closures

All three branches of the Dare County Library will be closed on Saturday, January 29, 2022, due to the inclement weather that is forecast. No overdue fines will be charged on days the libraries are closed.

The Dare County Library also reminds customers that eBooks and eAudiobooks and other forms of digital content are available 24/7 and can be accessed from the comfort of their home. To access this digital content, click the button below.

Dare County Parks and Recreation

Northern Beach Division and Roanoke Island/Mainland Division

Dare County Parks and Recreation has announced that all basketball games scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 29, 2022, have been canceled. This includes all games at both the Northern Beach Division in Kill Devil Hills and the Roanoke Island/Mainland Division in Manteo.

(Hatteras Island Division) Fessenden Center

No regularly scheduled basketball games are planned to take place at the Fessenden Center in Buxton on Saturday, January 29, 2022. However, the basketball games that are scheduled to be held at the Fessenden Center in Buxton beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022, are currently still scheduled.

If the Fessenden Center’s Sunday basketball games must be canceled due to inclement weather, a decision will be made by noon on Sunday, January 30, 2022. An announcement regarding any cancellations will be posted on the Fessenden Center’s Facebook page, so please check back for updated information as it becomes available.
