The Outer Banks Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coalition has been sharing a message of safety with locals and visitors for over 10 years.
The group has been focused on sharing safety information via PSAs on local media, and getting bicycle lights into the hands and onto the bikes of students, seasonal workers and visitors to the area.
There continue to be opportunities to help improve the safety and awareness on the Outer Banks, and unfortunately many of these opportunities have gone unmet due to a lack of participation on their board.
As a non-profit volunteer organization, they are currently looking for individuals to join the team who are able to give 2 hours a month to the cause.
If you have ideas about how the coalition can expand their reach here, or if you are individually passionate about improving bicycle and pedestrian safety, please email chair@obxbikeped.org.
