Project to Replace Public Boat Ramps on Ocracoke Island Beginning Next Week
A project to replace the National Park Service public boat ramps on Ocracoke Island is scheduled to begin on January 18.
The existing boat ramps will be closed to use throughout the duration of the construction project.
The two new concrete boat ramps will be sloped at a steeper grade and extended farther into the sound than the existing ramps. The bulkheads and finger piers will remain in the same locations and configuration.
The project was awarded to Paramount Construction Group and is expected to be completed by this summer.
