Coast Guard assists injured man on trawler near Oregon Inlet
On Monday morning, crew members from U.S. Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet assisted a man onboard a trawler near Oregon Inlet who had suffered a significant injury, per a recent online update from the station.
Station Oregon Inlet received a call at 10:30 a.m. from a mariner aboard an 80’ ft. trawler with five people on board, approximately 12 NM north from the sea buoy.
The mariner informed the station that his friend began suffering symptoms related to a serious infection in his arm after incurring a severe injury. Station Oregon Inlet deployed a crew to meet with the vessel and safely transfer him to their boat while also coordinating to have EMS available at the unit once the team arrived.
The patient was brought to the station and received proper medical attention while being transported to the local hospital.
