AVON– Lonie I. Williams Gray, 85, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in NagsHead. Born in Avon, she was the daughter of the late Samuel I. andLonie O’Neal Williams and was the widow of James I. Gray. She was alsopreceded in death by a brother, Roger Williams. Mrs. Gray was a memberof the Avon Worship Center.
Mrs.Gray is survived by two daughters, Wanda Gray Dokken of Manteo andDonna Gray Midgett and husband Carroll of Waves; a son, Jimmy I. Grayand wife Joy of New Jersey; a sister, Eula Pearl Beacham of New Bern; abrother, Johnny Ervin Williams of New Bern; four grandchildren, sixgreat grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Afuneral service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at theAvon Worship Center by Pastor Bryan Gray. Burial will be in theScarborough-Gray Cemetery. The family will receive friends andrelatives at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, on Tuesday from 6:30 to8:30 p.m. and at the Avon Worship Center on Wednesday at noon until thefuneral hour. A reception will be held at the church following theservice.
