FRISCO– David Malachia Barnett, 74, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2008 inthe Outer Banks Hospital. Mr. Barnett was born in Buxton, the sonof the late Thomas and Martha Swain Barnett. “Dave,”as he was known, was a country music recording artist and songwriterwith Cash Records. He performed in many places, including theGrand Ole Opry, and with many well-known artists, such as WillieNelson. He appeared on “Hee-Haw” and the“Louisiana Hayride,” as well at many charities and theFrisco Jubilee.
Heis survived by his wife, Betty Wyndham Barnett, of the residence; threedaughters, Debbie Adams of Lafayette, La., Jamie Brown of Moyock, N.C.,and Diane Dickerson of Monks Corner, S.C.; a son, Charlie Barnett ofHatteras; two sisters, Georgia B. Gray of Buxton and Betty Barnett ofFrisco; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and manynieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Barnett, six sisters and two brothers.
ACelebration of Life will be held in the building next to Little GroveUnited Methodist Church, Frisco, on Thursday, April 3, at 11 a.m. withRev. John LeCount and Dwight Burrus officiating. Burial will bein the family cemetery in Buxton. The family will receive friendson Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. in the building next to theLittle Grove United Methodist Church in Frisco.
