AVON– Norman R. Gray, 82, of Avon went to be with the Lord and to bereunited with his beloved wife, Estelle, on Monday, July 28, 2008.
Normanwas a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the 78thLightning Division as one of the first Allies to cross over the RhineRiver into Germany. After being discharged from the Army, he enlistedin the Coast Guard. During his enlistment of over 20 years in the CoastGuard, he also completed a tour in Vietnam.
Leftto cherish his memory are his daughter, Dawn Gray Wetzel and herhusband Bruce, a much loved son-in-law, of Virginia Beach Va.; a son,Norman Gray, Jr. of Avon; a brother, Oscar Gray of Avon; two sisters,Blanche Williams of Beaufort, N.C., and Rena Dawson of Hampton, Va.;and numerous much loved in-laws, nieces ,and nephews.
Aservice of remembrance will be held Friday, August 1, at 2 p.m. at theAvon Worship Center with Rev. Bryan Gray officiating. Burial will be atthe Gray Family Cemetery in Buxton. The family will receive friends atthe church from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. before the service.
