FRISCO — CoraAustin Simmons, 74, of Frisco, NC died Monday, July 17, 2017, at PeakResources – Outer Banks. A native of Hatteras, she was the daughter ofthe late Irma Midgett Austin and Fred B. Austin II and the widow ofAlva Arnold Simmons, Sr.
Formertreasurer of the Democratic Women’s Part, Cora worked as a loan officerand teller with East Carolina Bank. She was a former member of Kiwanis,and VFW Women’s Auxiliary, as well as a member of Hatteras UnitedMethodist Church.
Corais survived by three sons, Anthony Simmons of Greenville, KerrySimmons, and Kevin Simmons, both of Frisco; five grandchildren; twogreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred B. “Barry” Austin III andwife, Sarah of Hatteras.
Afuneral will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2017, at HatterasUnited Methodist Church with Rev. Toni Wood and Rev. Dwight Burrusofficiating. Burial will take place at the Ballance Cemetery in Buxton,NC. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from6:00 until 8:00 pm at the church.
