Dr. Raymond Gratien LePage, born on January 3, 1941, in Lewiston, Maine, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, in Fairfax, Virginia, at the age of 84.
A trailblazer in education, Raymond was the first student to participate in the Providence College Student Abroad program. He spent his career as a respected professor at George Mason University, where he inspired countless students with his wisdom and passion for learning. After years of dedicated service, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of education and mentorship.
Raymond, in honor of his son, played an instrumental role in promoting the study abroad program. He founded the Marc LePage Memorial Scholarship to support art and modern language students pursuing international study opportunities. His lasting contributions continue to inspire and empower future scholars.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved son, Marc LePage, as well as his parents, Emily and Joseph LePage.
His memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind, including his loving wife of many years, Claire Gelly LePage; his son, Scott LePage and wife Melissa; and his six grandchildren, Thomas, Louella, Serena, Luke, Pierce, and Sol LePage, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service in honor of Raymond’s life, which will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Laurel Memorial Gardens.
