KILL DEVIL HILLS — Roy Robert Murray, Jr., 74, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died Monday, October 3, 2022, at his home.
Born in Trenton, NJ on October 6, 1947, he was the son of the late Eleanor Johnston and Roy Robert Murray, Sr.
In 1969, Roy graduated from the Combs College of Music in Philadelphia, PA, and headed to California to follow his musical dream where he recorded a Gold Record with the Latin rock group Malo. His passion for music led him to have quite a career in bands traveling across America and Canada. Roy became a private music teacher on the Outer Banks and played in many churches to the glory of God. He affected many people with music and his love, energy, and enthusiasm. To know Roy is to know his love for the Lord.
Roy is now with his Savior, the very thing he talked about most.
Roy is survived by his wife of 24 years, Julia Palm; her children, Laura Tutwiler and Brant Doyle and his wife Bethany; three grandchildren, Lily, Luke and Jonah Doyle; his sister, Carolee Murray; and his brother, Rodney Murray.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the Church of the Outer Banks (YMCA, Nags Head) with Pastor Jamie Smith officiating.
