Efforts are underway to remove a vessel that beached on the shoreline just north of Hatteras village on Sunday, June 18.

Per several reports, the 28-foot Carol-Ina of Buxton, N.C., lost power on Sunday about 150 meters past the breakers in the Hatteras area. There were no reported injuries to the four people who were on board the vessel when it came ashore on early Sunday evening.

A number of visitors and local residents came to assist the stranded vessel on Sunday, but were unable to haul it away from the beach before dark.

The National Park Service is consulting with the U.S. Coast Guard and is working with the owner this morning to have the vessel removed from the beach.
