Just a bit more on the name of the seashore ? Cape Hatteras National Seashore vs. Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area.
Need we say more about this photo of an early official brochure for the park?
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Dennis Gray, our friend and faithful reader, found the cover of this brochure in the Hugh Morton Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library in an online blog.

Check my last blog for more information on the issue of the seashore?s name.
Irene?I actually purchased an original copy of this brochure from Ebay a few months ago. As soon as I had it in my hands, I mailed it to Mike Metzgar with the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association, for their use. Mile (and the NCBBA) stilll have that original copy. It was in great shape. Many thanks to Lynnea Dickinson for finding the brochure on Ebay and calling me to tell me about it. She was kind enough to allow me to purchase it for the cause, even though she herself is an avid collector of artifacts.
Actually after going in to my scanned documents, I realize that the brochure I purchased had a different picture on the front. It does still have the same name. I scanned the front and back of the brochure which is a total of 16 pages in a single 8-fold.
I will email the scan to you for your information.
