Betty Anne Chapman Todd, 65, resident of 506 West Kirksey Drive in Greenwood, S.C., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013.
Bornin Greenwood on Aug. 27, 1947, she was a daughter of the late AllenOtis and Elizabeth Lewis Todd. Betty Anne received a bachelor’sdegree in English from Lander College and later received her master’sdegree in library science from the University of North Carolina atChapel Hill.
Formerly of Stone Mountain, Ga., andHampton, Betty Anne moved back to Greenwood after retiring from TriCounty Library where she was Regional Library Director for Allendale,Jasper and Hampton counties. She was responsible for proposing toCongress the need to receive grants to move forward from the DeweyDecimal System to the Automated/Online Library System in SouthCarolina. Throughout her career she always made time for herthree children whom she enjoyed catering to as they enjoyedextracurricular activities growing up.
Formerly a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, Ms. Todd was a member of First Baptist Church in Hampton.
Survivingare a daughter, Ruth Todd Morgan of Hatteras Island; sons, Chad Toddand wife Jennifer of Greenwood and Andrew Chapman Todd and wife Heatherof Hodges; grandchildren, Victoria Elizabeth Gonce and husband Nick,Ashely Nicole Bateman, Christopher James Bateman, Andrew Allen PaulBateman, Lewis Wilburn Todd, Alexus Paige Harris, DeeAnne Morgan, LewisThomas Morgan, Madison Hope Harris, Catherine Anne Todd, Matthew AllenTodd and Aiden Charles Todd; great grandson, Brayden Gonce; sisters,Barbara C. Hamby of Greenwood, Mary C. Hare of Greer and Rebecca C.Wilburn of Newark, Del.; special cousin, Jimmie Mae of Laurens; andmany beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will beconducted on Saturday, Jan. 12, 11 a.m. from the Blyth Funeral HomeChapel with Rev. Terry Carpenter officiating.
The family is atthe home of her son Chad Todd, 309 Marietta Drive, where they willreceive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. The family will also receivefriends immediately following the service Saturday at the funeralhome.
