Avon residents and visitors asked to reduce water usage due to water line break
UPDATE: The water line to Avon was repaired by 8 p.m. on Thursday and water flow has been restored to normal.
Due to a water line break in between Avon and Buxton, the Dare County Water Department is requesting that all water users in the village of Avon reduce their consumption on Thursday, June 3, in an effort to sustain a pressurized water system in Avon.
Repair crews are currently working on the water line break as of Thursday afternoon, but it will be at least four or five hours before the break is fully repaired.
“We appreciate your cooperation in reducing the water consumption until the equipment is repaired, and production is restored to full capacity,” stated Patrick Irwin, Utilities Director for the Dare County Water Department, in a press release.
All repairs to the water line are expected to be complete by Thursday evening, June 3. For more information, contact the Dare County Water Department at 252-475-5990 or water@darenc.com.
