Brief power outage scheduled for Wednesday morning in Avon and the Tri-villages

The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative (CHEC) will require a brief planned power outage in Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Avon on Wednesday, March 16, in order to do some maintenance work to the transmission system.

A brief power outage also occurred on Tuesday morning, March 15, to allow CHEC to replace a three-pole structure between the Tri-villages and Avon.

“With the weather looking favorable again tomorrow, we are going to… finish out some maintenance projects to the transmission system,” stated Laura Ertle, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for CHEC. “These windows of favorable weather are hard to come by, so we must take advantage.”

The power outage scheduled for Wednesday is as follows:

• Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Avon will experience a 5-minute outage at 7:15 a.m. There will also be a brief outage after the replacement is complete.
