Dare County announces trash collection schedule changes due to inclement weather
Due to adverse weather conditions, Dare County Public Works will not conduct commercial trash collection on Hatteras Island on Monday, May 9, 2022. Weather permitting, this trash collection will be completed on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Residential trash collection was performed on Monday, May 9, 2022, in the villages of Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras—with the exception of a few secondary roads where trash was not collected due to standing water on the roadways.
The areas of Hatteras Island where trash collection was not completed today due to standing water will be checked again tomorrow (Tuesday, May 10, 2022), and if conditions allow, trash collection will be completed at that time.
There were no changes or issues with commercial or residential trash collection north of Oregon Inlet on Monday, May 9, 2022, and all trash collection remained on schedule.
Dare County Public Works plans to return to its normal schedule tomorrow (Tuesday, May 10, 2022), weather permitting.
If any additional schedule changes are necessary, updates will be posted as soon as possible.
