Friends of the Outer Banks History Center need help identifying original Hatteras Island homes
The Friends of the Outer Banks History Center (FOBHC) is embarking on a project to discover, honor, and record original Hatteras Island homes. The requirements are only that the structure be at least 100 years old and a minimum of 50% original materials.
The FOBHC has developed a comprehensive plan and outline with which to implement this project but is seeking help in identifying the qualifying homes. We are seeking volunteers to form this committee and individuals interested in leading it. The leadership will require a commitment to time and quality of work. FOBHC has already generated a substantial “starter list” of possible homes, thanks to the help of Dawn Taylor and the Hatteras Island Preservation Society.
Volunteer Committee membership is open to the general public. All OBX residents and especially Hatteras Island residents and natives are encouraged to apply to volunteer to assist in some degree for the committee work.
If you would (1) like to be part of this historic and exciting endeavor serving on the committe, or (2), you wish to be a Committee Leader, or (3) if you wish to nominate a home for consideration, please contact FOBHC Board Member James Charlet at KeeperJamesLSS@gmail.com with complete details including contact information.
