Dare schools and COA staff, Outer Banks first responders get their first COVID-19 vaccinations

Dare County teachers and staff in the public schools and at College of The Albemarle, along with members of local law enforcement and first responder agencies, began getting their first of two COVID-19 vaccinations at a clinic on Saturday at First Flight High School.

According to Dare County Schools Superintendent John Farrlley, Vidant Health provided 1,100 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from their stock for today’s clinic.

The clinic was scheduled by Dare County Health and Human Services and approved by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services just 24 hours before changes were made in the state’s vaccine priority levels on January 15, and therefore was allowed to continue as planned.

A follow-up clinic has been scheduled for February 13, also at First Flight High School for those who receive the inoculation today.
