Public invited to sea turtle release in Buxton on May 16
On Tuesday, May 16 at 9:30 a.m., the public is invited to watch six rehabilitated sea turtles from the N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island’s STAR Center get released back into the ocean.
The event will occur on the beach at the Old Lighthouse Beach Access (located just north of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse) in Buxton.
The release includes one loggerhead, one Kemp’s Ridley and four green sea turtles.
Parking is located adjacent to the beach, and the public is welcome to come watch these turtles return to the ocean.
