U.S. Coast Guard Assists Disabled Vessel 19 miles off of Oregon Inlet

On Saturday, September 5, the U.S. Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet received a report of a 25’ ft. sports craft with four people on board that had suffered an engine failure 19 miles off of Oregon Inlet, per a recent update from the station.

The vessel was drifting south at a steady rate, and had lost VHF communication during their report.

The U.S. Coast Guard crew located the vessel, and assessed the situation for any boat damage or medical concerns. The Station Oregon Inlet crew then placed the vessel into a skiff-hook tow, (connecting the towline to the vessel’s trailer eyebolt using a clip attachment), and safely towed them back to the Oregon Inlet boat ramp.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
